Planning Enforcement – Mill Meece

Introduced By:

The client reached out to ourselves after carrying out an Internet search on local business. Following a telephone conversation and an initial meeting on site we were appointed to make planning applications on two enforcement notices that they had been served.

Client Needs & Challenges:

The client has lived in the property for a number of years and over this period they had carried out some improvements. These included the following items, on which the enforcements related to:

i) Increased the size of driveway utilising an area of their adjacent paddock. This was carried out without obtaining the relevant planning permission to change the land use of the paddock needed from agricultural to residential amenity space.

ii) Within the paddock was an existing agricultural building in need to repair to prevent further collapse. This building was being used as storage for their small holding – tools and supplies needed in connection with a number of sheep. The building roof collapsed so work was carried out to make the building structurally sound but also it was increased in size.

What did we do?

Initially we made contact with the Enforcement Officer to establish the exact issues and agree a way forward. Throughout the process we stayed in contact the Officer to ensure that the enforcement process was being held until the necessary Planning Applications had been determined.

Obviously, being issued an enforcement notice can be worrying for a client so it was imperative that we responded quickly and kept the clients informed regularly of progress.

The clients appreciated that we effectively took hold of this scenario and had all the dealings and correspondence with the Local Authorities.

“We had an excellent experience working with Adrian at James and Ward Ltd., Their expertise, clear communication, and dedication delivered us great results on two individual projects. I would confidently recommend them to anyone seeking their specific services.”
